Dr. Joel Salinas conducts clinical research with a focus on investigating the social and behavioral determinants of brain health. Using analytic tools from social epidemiology and emerging techniques, such as digital phenotyping and social network analysis, he studies large epidemiologic cohorts to examine the link between social relationships, cognitive and neuropsychiatric outcomes, and potential underlying neurobiological mechanisms. His long-term research objective is to develop and deploy interdisciplinary strategies to preserve healthy brain functioning and prevent the development of age-related neurologic diseases.
